Andrea Catherwood hosted Bloomberg Television's business and politics programme for four years, covering real-time analysis of breaking stories, exclusive interviews with global newsmakers and coverage of the last hour of trading in European markets.
 
Prior to joining Bloomberg, Andrea was the main anchor of ITV weekend news until 2006 and reported for ITV1 for over ten years.  She also co-hosted three series of The Sunday Edition, with Andrew Rawnsley, conducting hard-hitting in-depth interviews with Britain's leading politicians.
 
Before joining ITN, Andrea was based in Hong Kong for five years as anchor and reporter for CNBC Asia, travelling extesively around southeast Asia and covered the handover of Hong Kong. She has also anchored bulletins for Channel 5, NBC Asia and CNBC Hong Kong. 
 
She has a wealth of international news experience. Throughout her career, she has interviewed various world leaders including former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Burmese human rights leader Aung San Suu Kyi and major politicians including the last four British Prime Ministers.  Since joining Bloomberg Television in 2009, Andrea has interviewed George Osborne, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Royal Dutch Shell CEO Peter Voser, Royal Bank of Scotland CEO Stephen Hester, Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management Jim O'Neill, Greek Finance Minister Giorgos Papaconstantinou, President Ãlafur Ragnar Grímsson of Iceland and Prince Andrew, along with countless other international financial and political leaders. She has also made a documentary on Burma including an exclusive interview with Aung San Suu Kyi.
 
She has covered major news stories in Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, Mozambique and Guantanamo Bay. She anchored from London's 2007 bombings, New York City post-9/11, the frontlines of Baghdad, and covertly with British Forces in Iraq. She was also the first British journalist into Mazar-i-Sharif in Afghanistan after the city fell to the Northern Alliance in 2001. There, she compiled a number of exclusive reports before she was injured in a suicide grenade attack.
 
Andrea's career began at BBC Northern Ireland and UTV, where she covered politics and daily news during the Troubles.  She was born and raised in Northern Ireland, and earned an honors degree in law from the University of Manchester. She speaks fluent Spanish and French.
