June Brown

June BrownJune's career began at the Old Vic playing 'Foible' in THE WAY OF THE WORLD - as maid to Edith Evans as 'Lady Wishfort', but she is probably best known to British and International Television audiences as the irrepressible 'Dot Cotton' in BBC's flagship drama EASTENDERS which she played for more than eight years. Her 'marathon performance genius' (Time Out) as the chain-smoking, bible thumping, hypochondriac and arch-gossip of the tumble-driers, resulted in her character becoming a national institution. June has returned periodically to EASTENDERS, and British audiences were thrilled to see 'Dot' return once again to 'Albert Square' in the autumn of 1998. The character she created was so successful it resulted in the creation of a puppet on SPITTING IMAGE - until recently the only fictional individual to have been latex-ed.

Her directoral debut was in Folkestone with the PHARMACEUTICAL MIGRAINES and was followed up by the one act version of DOUBLE D by Matthew Westwood in Camden Etcetera Theatre, Camden; a ful version debuted at the Edinburgh Festival.

Her theatre work is extensive and has has included; two years touring with the original Young Vic Company in THE MERCHANT OF VENICE (as 'Jessica' and 'Portia'), THE KNIGHT OF THE BURNING PESTILE (as 'Luce') and THE SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS (as 'Beatrice'). No stranger to the big screen, her film credits include; SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY, STRAW DOGS, THE FOURTEEN (the mother), MURDER BY DECREE, NIJINSKY, SHERLOCK HOLMES, MISUNDERSTOOD, LACE (for Lorimer Productions) and MR BEAN.

More recently, when not playing 'Dot', June has played 'Amelia Sayers' in an episode of THE VERDICT (Granada/Yorkshire), 'Grandma' in GEORGE'S MARVELLOUS MEDICINE
(BBC Education) and appeared as 'Nanny Slagg' in the BBC's epic dramatisation of Mervyn Peake's GORMENGHAST. Most recently she starred opposite Penelope Keith in ITV's one off drama MARGERY AND GLADYS.

Aaron Heslehurst

Aaron HeslehurstA native of Australia, Aaron began his journalistic career as a News reporter for Prime Television/Seven Network in both Sydney and Canberra. Here he gained invaluable experience in the many areas of news reporting as well as developing his abilities as a live-on-air and on-set presenter. A landmark in this initial stage of his career was the recognition of his work by the Australian National Press Club, which presented him with the prestigious and much coveted award for Best Creative Story on Tourism in 1998.

The experience gained in this position set the seal on his academic pursuits and cultural empathy resulting from his extensive travel throughout Europe, Asia and the United States of America. In fact it has been his interest in foreign travel and ability to communicate with peoples from a wide mix of cultures and many different social backgrounds that has been the corner stone of his subsequent career.

Following on from his work in his homeland, Aaron was appointed European Bureau Chief in London for Paramount Picture’s Real TV News. Here, he single-handedly increased the European story output to a height that had never before been achieved by the program. To attain this, Aaron was required to travel far and wide throughout Europe, researching, writing, directing, producing and shooting on location a constant flow of high impact interest material.

It was as Senior Newsreader and Editor for afternoon and evening programming that Aaron made a very considerable contribution to the output of Copenhagen based CNBC Nordic. Broadcasting news on the hour to more than five and a half million homes throughout the Nordic region more than kept him busy. However, he also broadcast live scheduled inserts to the entire CNBC Pan European feed that reaches no less that sixty-five million homes across the continent.

It was in 2002 that Aaron made a career move to the internationally revered British Broadcasting Corporation. BBC World is relied upon for accurate, up to the minute reportage on all aspects of current affairs. It was here that Aaron became an active member of the high profile team that presents the business news. Presenting both World Business Report and on the hour Business News bulletins he covered not only the latest from stock markets from around the globe but also breaking stories.

These have varied from the consequences of the ongoing war on terrorism, the vagaries of the Argentine economy, the plight of Japanese banking, trade disputes that rage between the EU and USA, EU competition rules, the Iraq war and the virtual collapse of world tourism that arose from the outbreak of the SARS virus. The impact that many of these events has had upon the fortunes of the world’s airlines has been yet another topic.

Aaron continues to work on these important projects as well as providing reports for Fast Track, BBC World’s weekly travel news programme. Very much in keeping with Aaron’s own great personal interest in travel, this popular feature programme includes weekly reports on the latest global airline news and not least advice on the hot deals offered by the world’s airlines.
