Eve Pollard

Eve Pollard - JournalistEve Pollard worked on newspapers and magazines before becoming editor of the Sunday Mirror, where she won the Editor of the Year Award.

She was editor of the Sunday Express when it won both the Newspaper of the Year and the Sunday Newspaper of the Year awards. She is a regular broadcaster on television and radio. She is married to Sir Nicholas Lloyd and has a daughter, a son and three stepchildren.


Eve Pollard is Honorary President and a founding member of Women in Journalism. She is a Visiting Fellow at Bournemouth University and a regular TV and radio broadcaster.

Ed Byrne

Ed Byrne - After Dinner Stand UpAs an observational stand up Ed Byrne is unrivalled. He has performed 4 hit UK tours, performed 2 solo runs at Dublin's Gaiety and Ambassador Theatres and has made his London West End debut in a 2 week run at The New Ambassadors Theatre. He has also developed huge success on the international circuit where he has performed to capacity audiences in Montreal (Just For Laughs Festivals, 1999, 2002, 2003, Canada (Just For Laughs tours), Dublin, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand. At both the Melbourne and New Zealand Comedy Festivals Ed is their largest selling performer. Ed's draw is such that in New Zealand only 1 other international comedian can top his sales, being Billy Connolly! In the USA Ed has performed at US Comedy Arts Festival (Aspen), plus top comedy clubs in New York and LA and has made a phenomenal 5 appearances on Late Night With Conan O'Brien (NBC).

Ed is now actively and seriously developing his acting career.

Ed has filmed a feature film, RAT (Universal Films (UK)) produced by Alison Owen (Ruby Films) where he plays the role of Rudolph. Radio includes a comedy play, The Pig's Back (BBC Radio 4) and the Griff Rhys Jones sketch show (radio pilot).

For television Ed had his first part in a Father Ted Christmas Special as a 'grungy teenager'. He then acted in the ITV/LWT Christmas Day Panto, Aladdin. Ed played Aladdin opposite Patsy Kensit as the Princess.
He was also seen as Davina McColl's flatmate 'Alex' in the ITV sitcom, Sam's Game.

Following this he played the lead role of Barry Cassidy for RTE's The Cassidy's (6 part sitcom).

Ed has made numerous other appearances including Celebrity Weakest Link, BBC Northern Ireland Children In Need, Lily Savage's Blankety Blank, They Think It's All Over, Des O'Connor Tonight, Royal Variety Performance, Live At The Palladium and for RTE has recorded 2 series of 'Ed Byrne's Just For Laughs' recorded at Just For Laughs Montreal.

On top of all of this Ed performs stand up at an enormous amount of corporate events and can be heard more or less continually as the voice of The Carphone Warehouse on both their radio and TV commercials.

Simon Hoggart

Simon Hoggart - After Dinner SpeakerSimon Hoggart, 55, chaired Radio 4's News Quiz full-time from1996 to 2006. The son of Professor Richard Hoggart, he was educated in Hull and Leicester and at King's College Cambridge. He began his journalistic career at The Guardian in 1968, working as a reporter in Northern Ireland and as political correspondent. He then moved to The Observer, becoming US correspondent, columnist and political editor. He was also a regular contributor to Punch. His books include Michael Foot: a Portrait, America: a User's Guide, Live Briefs (a collaboration with cartoonist Steve Bell) and Bizarre Beliefs. Married with two children, he has been The Guardian's parliamentary sketch writer since 1993.

Simon is a good after dinner speaker and able to chair conferences.
